Our Gold Casting Process

We start by working closely with you to understand your needs, with expert guidance where needed on material selection and production techniques.

Pioneers in precious metal casting since 1947, our lost wax casting process offers flexibility and precision. Wax or resin models are created through traditional moulds or 3D printed before being sprued. Once complete, each wax tree is set in investment powder to form precise moulds ready for casting. Finally, the wax is heated and “lost” to form a negative mould ready for gold casting. An experienced honed process, lost wax gold casting is ideal for those seeking precision.

Our process includes:

  • Digital or physical master creation
  • Wax or resin production via 3D print or mould
  • Sprue or tree creation
  • Investment and Burnout whereby the wax is encased in a ceramic shell and set, which is then heated to eliminate the wax and create a negative mould.
  • Casting (either vacuum or centrifugal)
  • Removal of investment and surface cleaning
  • Clipping to remove castings from the tree
  • Inspection and quality control

Once cast, each piece undergoes a full inspection for porosity and flaws before on-site hallmarking through our in-house Birmingham sub-assay office.

Whether you’re working with us on a one-off bespoke piece, a collection or on daily castings our experienced team are here to help with all your gold casting needs.

Quality & Expertise

All cast gold pieces go through a rigorous quality control to ensure they meet the highest standards before reaching you, with each piece thoroughly checked for any surface issues such as porosity, investment inclusions or non-fill and inconsistencies against the original model.

Each casting is carefully reviewed to ensure accuracy and integrity, maintaining the fine detail and definition of the original design. On-site, fast assay and hallmarking guarantee authenticity and compliance with UK legal and industry standards.

A final inspection and quality assurance check confirm that every piece reflects the excellence associated with Weston Beamor before packaging and shipment.
