Our Silver Casting Process

We start by working closely with you to understand your needs, offering guidance on material selection, production techniques, and the durability required for your silver jewellery.

With over 75 years of expertise, our lost wax silver casting process combines tradition with technology to deliver flexibility and precision. Wax models are created through traditional moulds or 3D printing before being carefully attached to a casting tree. Each tree is then set in investment powder to create precise moulds ready for casting. The wax is heated and “lost,” leaving a negative mould into which silver is cast. This well-honed method makes lost wax silver casting ideal for capturing fine detail and producing consistent results at any scale.

Our process includes:

  • Wax or resin production via 3D print or mould
  • Sprue or tree creation
  • Investment and burnout (wax encased in a ceramic shell and heated to form a negative mould)
  • Casting (vacuum)
  • Removal of investment and surface cleaning
  • Clipping to remove castings from the tree
  • Surcace refinement through silver barreling process.
  • Inspection and quality control

Once cast, every silver piece is carefully inspected for porosity or flaws before being sent directly to you. Hallmarking is carried out quickly and efficiently on-site through our Birmingham sub-assay office, based within our building.

Whether you need a one-off piece, a collection of silver jewellery, or regular production castings, our experienced team is here to support your project from start to finish.

All cast silver pieces go through a rigorous quality control process to ensure they meet the highest standards before reaching you, with each piece thoroughly checked for any surface issues such as porosity, investment inclusions or non-fill and inconsistencies against the original model.

Surface refinement is applied to enhance polish and detail visibility where needed, highlighting the craftsmanship of every silver piece. On-site, fast assay and hallmarking guarantee authenticity and compliance with UK legal and industry standards.

FAQs

What method do you use for silver jewellery casting?

We use lost wax casting methods for precision and consistency. Wax or resin models are created from CAD or moulds, invested in ceramic, and molten silver is poured into the mould for casting.

How to make a mould for silver casting?

We create moulds from physical masters or digital models, depending on your needs. These are then used to produce wax models, which form the basis of the casting tree.

Do you finish silver castings, or are they supplied raw?

We supply all our silver castings raw.
