The heart of Weston Beamor has always been its people - and today, we’re proud to shine a little spotlight on one of them. Ruby Lanigan has been named among this year’s Bright New Gems, recognised for her creativity, commitment, and the infectious enthusiasm she brings to everything she does. Her positivity and curiosity inspire those around her, reminding us how powerful it is when talent and passion come together.

A Bright New Gem

Bright New Gems shines a light on the next generation of designers and makers who are shaping the future of jewellery. To see Ruby included in this year’s line-up is a proud moment for all of us - and a reflection of the passion and skill she brings to the team here in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

Building skills, shaping futures

This recognition caps off what has been an incredible year for Ruby. She recently graduated with First Class Honours from Birmingham City University’s renowned School of Jewellery - and was also awarded the Weston Beamor Prize at the School’s Panel Day, alongside a second award that celebrated the originality and detail of her work.

It’s not easy to combine study and professional practice, but Ruby has done it with real dedication. Her achievements highlight not only her technical skill but also her determination to keep learning, experimenting, and refining her craft - the kind of qualities that keep our industry moving forward.

What it means in practice

For us, Ruby’s story is a reminder of what makes this industry so special - the people behind it. Every new idea, every beautiful piece of jewellery starts with someone’s imagination, and we’re proud to work alongside so many who care deeply about their craft.

At Weston Beamor, we’ve seen how generations of experience and a new wave of creativity can come together to create something truly inspiring. It’s that shared passion - from long-standing makers to emerging talent - that keeps the jewellery industry shining.

Supporting the next generation

Since 1947, Weston Beamor has been part of the Jewellery Quarter community — and nothing makes us prouder than seeing new talent shine. Ruby’s success is one of many wonderful achievements we’ve celebrated this year. Her fellow graduate, Olga Turkovskaia, one of our skilled mounters, also earned First Class Honours and received multiple awards at the School of Jewellery Panel Day. We were equally thrilled to present the Weston Beamor Competition Prizes to Imogen Phillips, Bethan Harrison, and Julie Ashton — three exciting names to watch as they begin their own journeys in the industry.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Every new idea, every milestone, and every bit of progress adds to the shared story of British jewellery making — and we couldn’t be happier to play a part in supporting such incredible emerging talent.

A moment of pride

Ruby’s recognition as a Bright New Gem is a milestone we’re incredibly proud to celebrate. We’re fortunate to have such talented people within our team - individuals who push boundaries, take on new challenges, and continue to grow both personally and professionally.

Whether it’s through Goldsmiths’ apprenticeships, entering Craft and Design Council competitions, or developing their own personal brands, we’re proud to support and to encourage every step of that journey. Supporting our people ultimately supports our industry - and that’s something we’ll always stand behind.

Congratulations, Ruby. We’re excited to see where your journey takes you next.
