In an industry built on tradition and trust, the materials we choose matter. Not just for how they perform at the bench - but for what they represent.

At Weston Beamor, we’ve long believed that responsibility and quality go hand in hand. Our Fairtrade gold casting solutions are a practical, proven way for jewellers to offer more than a beautiful end product - they offer clarity, traceability, and a direct link to better working conditions for mining communities.

The 2024 Fairtrade Gold Impact Report goes beyond headlines. It sets out the facts - what’s changed, where it matters, and how ethical sourcing continues to drive meaningful progress.

A Global System with Local Impact

The latest data from Fairtrade shows solid, steady progress:

• 1,646 kg of certified Fairtrade gold supplied in the past 12 months

• 18% global growth in Fairtrade gold usage

• Widespread reinvestment into mining practices, safety, and sustainability

These aren’t abstract figures. Behind them are producers like the Limata mine in Peru, where the Fairtrade Premium enabled the purchase of equipment to eliminate mercury - a significant step towards safer, cleaner extraction.

“With the Premium and the price we have received, we have improved a lot of things,” a miner at Limata shared. “Now we have bought equipment to eliminate the use of mercury, all in order not to pollute the environment.”

It’s this kind of outcome that keeps us invested in the Fairtrade process. It shows what responsible sourcing can deliver - when it’s done properly.

Why It Matters for Jewellers Today

We work with retailers, brands and jewellery designers across the UK who are looking to make smarter, more sustainable choices - without compromising quality or reliability. Fairtrade gold offers a clear, audited route to traceable material sourcing. It also enables jewellers to tell a credible, values-led story to their own customers.

When you choose our Fairtrade gold casting solutions, you’re choosing:

• Full supply chain traceability

• Ethical accreditation backed by the Fairtrade Foundation

• A casting partner who takes environmental and social responsibility seriously

Whether you’re responding to customer demand or aligning with internal ESG targets, Fairtrade casting is just one of the responsible ways to do it with confidence.

Our Role in the Process

Weston Beamor, as one of the very first UK Jewellery Manufacturers in the UK to be licensed to supply Fairtrade-certified castings, is committed to giving our customers access to precious metal casting options that align with their values - without adding complexity to their production.

That means:

  • Castings that meet our usual exacting standards
  • Technical advice and support where needed
  • A transparent link from mine to workshop

We don’t view Fairtrade gold as a niche material. It’s a viable, commercially sensible choice - and one we believe more jewellers will turn to as expectations around ethics, environment, and accountability continue to grow. It also sits alongside a wider range of sustainable options we offer, including Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold, recycled metals, and low-impact casting processes - all designed to give customers flexibility without compromising on quality or responsibility.

Looking Ahead

Fairtrade gold isn’t about perfection - it’s about progress. It's one of several routes we offer to customers who want to work with purpose. And as the 2024 report shows, that purpose is making a measurable difference: to health, to safety, and to the long-term sustainability of the jewellery sector’s raw materials.

We're proud to play a role in that chain - and proud to support our customers in doing the same.
